Dexter is looking for the best Forever Home ever.  He is a beautiful tan Doxie ever.  His eyes and nose match his hair coloring.  Just look at that face, he has so much love to give, loves a big backyard, riding in the car and being outside. He is leash trained and uses the Doggie Door like an
old pro.  Dexter is OK with cats and other dogs and is crate trained.

Dexter was an owner turn in, his foster mom and dad just cannot understand how anyone could give this sweet boy up.   Dexter is uncomfortable be moved from home to home and is still somewhat threatened when new people come to visit.  He will be your friend forever if you will let Dexter come to you maybe lick your hand.  He can be nippy and growl if a new comer does not give him his space to make friends.   Dexter needs a fenced in yard and perhaps an older couple to share their home with him.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about DEXTER

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
