BIO:Bunny is the sweetest girl you will ever meet! She is totally content to curl up in your lap and will follow you everywhere. She is very shy, but warmed up to her foster family quickly. When she first arrived she would bark at every noise (the heater, doors opening, microwave beeping, etc.), but she is much more relaxed now, and rarely barks inside….unless the doorbell rings….. she is a dachshund after all!Bunny absolutely LOVES her foster brother (another dachshund), and has learned to walk on a leash. She worked very hard on potty training, and now consistently goes outside.Bunny has been exposed to some children, and does much better around older children (12 years old and up) who understand how to act around dogs. Younger, unpredictable children still make her nervous. If you are looking for a sweetheart to warm your lap at night, and are willing to help Bunny feel safe in her new home, then Bunny is the girl for you.She is such a good girl full of love who deserves a loving family of her own.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about Bunny...MA
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
