BIO: Oscar is a gorgeous standard size gentleman. Before being rescued from the shelter Oscar was found running around outside and was brought in as a stray. No one claimed him. So he waited and then rescue came just in time… Oscar has the softest fur. He fells just like velvet. He will just melt in your lap. He is a champion under the cover snuggler.
Hi my name is Oscar. I like to chase cats. It would probably be better if I live in a home without cats. You will have to keep me in a fenced yard or on a leash when outside, my hunting instinct is very strong and birds and squirrels really get me revved up for a good chase. I am doing pretty good on my leash although I can have a little stubborn streak now and then just like most doxies.
I love to sit on the couch or snuggle under the covers in the big bed. I follow everyone around a lot and love to sit in their lap when they sit down. I have a little foster sister and we are getting to know each other. I love attention of any kind, be it a kind word or the gentle touch of a loving hand! I am very loyal. Won’t you please take me home with you forever?
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
