Ridge Runner was surrendered by a breeder who was forced to downsize due to the new laws in Pennsylvania. He lived all of his life in a tiny wooden stall with a mate, little human contact, no bed or heat. He is very nervous around strangers and children, so would do best in a quiet household with either older children or none at all. Ridge Runner is a little overweight and needs to lose about 2 pounds.

Ridge says:

I have been used as a breeder all of my life and like my new found freedom. I like being in a warm house and having good food to eat. I also like being cuddled and told I am a good boy. People I do not know scare me right now, but I know the right person could teach me to trust strangers. I do like other dogs and even kitties. I am working hard on my housetraining skills and with a little more work will be just great at it. My foster mom says I have a very handsome coat and lovely colors. When I lose the extra weight I need to, I will be the handsomest doxie around! I have a lot to learn about my new life. Could you help me to overcome my nervousness and teach me to be the great dog my foster mom says I can be?

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
