Being fostered in midde TN
Hello Everyone. I’m Dan. My Foster Mom calls me “Dapper Dan”. She says I’m a Dapper Little Dapple! I am a Black & Tan/Silver Dapple Miniature Dachshund. I am roughly 3 years old. I am very timid and shy. I tend to be very scared of men, especially tall men. But If you are kind to me, I will warm up to you. My foster Mom thinks that someone, maybe a man, may have been very mean to me before I was rescued. I have really come out of my shell over the last couple of weeks. What a cute personality I have!! I have slowly gained a little weight. I was so thin. I weigh maybe 10lbs. I love to be held and loved. I have never had any loving before! I get along great with other dogs. As a matter-of-fact, my Mommy would recommend that I go to a home that has other small dog’s that are calm, stable dog’s. I don’t know how I would get along with a cat, because I have never been around one. I need a lot of TLC,
But if you can love me I am sure I can find a special place in your heart!! Love, Little “D”
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
