BIO: Sandee is a gorgeous standard size gentleman. Before being rescued from the shelter Sandee was found running around outside and was brought in as a stray. No one claimed him. So he waited and then rescue came just in time… Sandee could use a few more pounds on him and we are trying to fatten him up. He is recovering from kennel cough and has been a real trooper about taking his pills and he is sounding and feeling much better. He came in at a skinny 17 pounds, he is 18 lbs right now and I am trying to fatten him up by 1/2 lbs so he can fill out and be even more gorgeous than he already is. His favorite toy is a brown fuzzy Teddy Bear. He drags it all over the place with him and snuggles with his Teddy on the couch.
Sandee does know "stay" and sometimes "sit" mostly on a regular basis, he is learning, and is very smart. He is extremely gentle when taking a treat/snack. . He has a cute habit of standing in the yard and lifting his right paw and looking out into the distance like a sentinel. As far as temperament he is everything you could wish for in a lifelong companion. He is calm and even-tempered. But playful as well. He is young at 2 years old, but has the good manners of an older Dachshund. He knows to potty outside, on a schedule. He gets along well with his foster brother and sister Dachshunds, however he is unfamiliar with cats and chases and barks at them so far. Sandee was really hamming it up for the camera. He's so adorable. He’d love nothing better than to find a forever home with his Teddy where he can sleep in the big bed and burrow to his hearts desire. Do you have room in your heart for Sandee- he has room in his heart and then some for you.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE
More about SANDEE...CA
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
