BIO:

Are you a dog whisperer?  This is a dog that needs a whisperer.

Angie came into rescue when her owner recently died.  She is an anxious dog but with time and patience, she is able to relax and express her gentle, playful spirit.

Angie has a bucket list:

1. Angie must go to a home with a fenced yard.  She is skittish and needs to be in a safe environment to protect her from running away when frightened.

2. She LOVES to be outside!  She discovered snow her first day in foster care and her foster mother had difficulty getting her in the house because she wanted to jump, burrow and lay in the deep snow.  Her foster packmates were appreciative that she forged trails through the deep snow for them to follow her around the yard.

3. She needs another young, playful dog.  She has a lot of energy and she wants to play.

4. She needs lots of toys.  If no one is available to play with her, she joyfully throws toys around by herself.

Angie is housebroken but will need to be let out on a schedule so she can learn your routine.  She likes her foster mother, but she really prefers her foster father.  He says it is because he is semi-retired and home more than her foster mom.

If you are a dog whisperer who wants to work your magic on a sweet, gentle spirit and if you can fulfill her bucket list, please complete an application.  You will never regret your decision!

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Likes to play with toys

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
