BIO:  Dear, dear Gretta has had a tough past three months.  First, her senior owner needed back surgery so Gretta went to live with her mom’s friend while she was hospitalized.  Her mom then went to a rehab facility to recover, but eventually passed away!  Gretta was at the friend’s home for over two months.  The friend wanted so much to keep Gretta, but she already had 2 senior pit bull mixes.  The three females did not get along so Gretta moved to a temporary foster home for a week before making the long 15-hour transport to Tennessee.  Foster mom has 5 doxies of her own (4 females and one male) and Gretta has NO problem living with the smaller dogs.  No surprise, she did seem a little depressed/confused and spent a LOT of time sleeping away the hours in her bed.

Gretta’s world has been turned upside down.  We need to find her a loving forever home where she can once again be the princess she knows she is!  Gretta learned the “rules” at her foster home very quickly.  She is a smart little girl who will learn to trust folks again once she spends a little time with her forever family.  I heard from one of the transporters that she gives awesome kisses too!

Are you the family we’re looking for?!?  Meg will be happy to give you more info on Gretta.  Contact her at meg1709@comcast.net.

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
