BIO: Angel comes into rescue from a North Carolina based puppy mill along with a male companion. You would never know it though as she is one of the happiest little girls we have had the pleasure of fostering. She has been in her Northeast foster home a few days and has settled in like she's lived here forever. Snuggle, kiss, repeat! That is Angel. Her name fits her very appropriately. She is so full of energy and loves to run and play. For these reasons, we are making a fully fenced yard a MUST for her. We also are going to look for a home that has another small dog around the same age and energy level as her. If we allowed her to be an only dog, I fear she could become very bored and possibly destructive or depressed. Angel does know how to use a doggy door, but she has had a few accidents on the floor. I suspect that this is coupled with it still being a new home and it being pretty cold and wet outside. We are working on this and she is getting better. She walks wonderfully on a leash, although she does have the tendency to tug a little, therefore a harness is a must. Angel has gotten along with her two dachshund foster brothers very well. We have not had her exposed to big dogs or cats as of yet. Due to her high energy, if her new home has children in it, they MUST be 10+ years of age and be respectful of small dogs.
Angel will make you so happy and be sure to put a huge smile on your face! She would love to be your new best friend! If you have any questions about Angel, please contact us at the foster’s email address. We’d love to tell you all about her!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
