BIO:  Tank is an amazing boy!  He is so fun to have around!  He loves everyone and just wants to snuggle with anyone that is around.  Tank was an owner surrender.  You will not find a more laid back, easy going, happier boy than Tank.  He is one of the smartest dogs we've had the pleasure of fostering.  He will watch you very intently, with his head cocked to the side (which often results in one ear flipping over).

Tank is house trained to a doggie door.  He did have a few accidents in the house the first day he was here, but that was due to being nervous from the long two-day transport to get here and the brutally cold temperatures here in the Northeast.  By the second day he was used to the new routine and has not had any accidents since.

Although he has only been at his foster home here in Vermont for a few days, he has integrated himself in very nicely.  He loves to run around outside, so we would prefer a fully fenced yard.  He gets along great with the other small dogs here, but we have not exposed him to large dogs or cats.  We think he would be good with dog savvy children that will respect his space, therefore children over 10 years only.

If you adopt Tank, you will be so happy with him and he will give you unconditional love!  Tank is excited about getting his new Furever Home.  If you have any questions about Tank, please contact us at the foster’s email address.  We’d love to tell you all about him.

More about Tank in VA

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
