Mindy is a sweet, shy little girl, but will come to you for attention. She warms up quickly to strangers, gives lots of kisses and loves to cuddle with people. Mindy is great with other dogs, cats and children. Mindy was turned in to a shelter in NY with her brother Mork because the breeder that had them had too many dogs. She is picking up quickly on her housetraining skills, and with time will be great. She cries for a few minutes when first crated, but quiets down fast. We think Mindy will be a large tweenie or small standard when she grows into her ears.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
