BIO:  Zoey came from East Tennessee when her owner could no longer care for her because she had too many dogs.  We were happy to take Ms. Zoey as she is a very sweet little girl and will make someone a wonderful family member.  Zoey loves attention and would love it if you were home a lot so she could be your lap baby.

The family that had Zoey didn’t really work with her very well to keep her housetrained so the approved adopter will have to keep her on a schedule.  She’s eager to please and won’t be hard to finish up her housetraining or get her back on track.

She came to us about 3 pounds overweight and still needs to lose a couple of pounds. This could be off by the time she’s adopted, but her adopters will have to monitor her weight so she doesn’t become overweight again.

Zoey is NOT good with cats will bark and bark at them so no cats.  Other dogs are just fine.  She really needs a fenced yard because she enjoys following her people around.

Ms. Zoey is a wonderful little girl!  We think in the right home she’d be fine as an only dog but if you work or are away from home a lot, then another dog would be helpful.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
