BIO:

Hello!  My name is Darby and I am a Chiweenie puppy.  I am looking for a fur-ever home.  I love to play so it would be best if I had a buddy to play with.  I like both girl or boy doggies as I am easy-going.  I love to snuggle too!  My foster mom and dad say I have a great personality and will make someone a great best friend.  I am very friendly and playful.

I am pretty good at going potty outside, but here in Wisconsin it gets pretty cold, so I sometimes use the potty pad inside.  I am used to a doggie door.

My foster parents don't use a crate, so I'm not sure how I would like that.  I don't totally understand a leash yet, but am working on it.  I love taking car trips to Petco or Tractor Supply or visiting people.

Oh, and if you wanted to know, I was dropped off at a shelter in Alabama as a small puppy and then went to this rescue so they could take me to the vet and make me better so I could be adopted.

I will make someone very happy, I know it!  My foster parents said they would keep me if they could, but they already have three.

Note from foster mom:  This is a great dog!  Anyone who adopts Darby will be happy they did.  He is a great little guy with a great personality!  We love him!

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Does Good in the Car, Even-tempered

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
