BIO: Heidi was rescued from a shelter in Tennessee. She is a very sweet, good little girl and she gets along well with both large and small dogs. She is active and enjoys running and playing with other dogs. She also loves to snuggle and enjoys a lap from time to time. Heidi does well in a crate when we are away for a short period of time and she is house trained. She also walks well with a harness on a leash.
Due to Heidi’s body having a tendency to produce crystals and having had a stone removed, she must remain on a special urinary care diet for life. She is currently on dry Science Diet Urinary Care.
Heidi is a very good dog and she will be a wonderful companion! If you are willing to provide Heidi with care and love in a forever home, she may be the dog for you. With her great disposition, she will be adopted quickly!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
