If you have room in your home for a couple of laid back lap dogs, look no further!  Maggie and Willie came from a home in Indiana where a member of the family experienced a tragic accident and thus, could no longer care for these two babies.  Maggie and Willie are brother and sister and a bonded pair so they must be adopted together.  Both have been fully vetted along with having dentals.  Willie lost 9 teeth, Maggie lost 15.  Their food will be softened until their gums heal, then they can eat hard food again.  Maggie and Willie get along well with the other dogs in our home as well as the cat and are good with company who come to visit.  Both are leash-trained and love to go bye-bye.   

Maggie is an escape artist when it comes to the crate.  Truth be known, she is fine just being left to roam the house while you’re away.  You can almost always find Maggie snuggled down in a blanket on the couch or in a doggy bed.  She is a very sweet little girl who has a bit of an alpha personality.  She is also more independent in nature than her brother, but does enjoy time with her human as well. 

Willie is such a sweetheart and wants to spend as much time with his human as he can.  If you are sitting on the couch, so is Willie.  If you are away or doing chores around the house, he is snuggling with his sister.  He also loves to snuggle down and sleep all night in the big bed.  Willie is a very laid-back little guy who will just go with the flow.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
