BIO: Lucy has a pretty sad story to tell. She did come from SC but we don’t know why her mouth was sewn mostly shut. We are not sure if a vet did it to try to fix the holes from her dental or if it was something else that we don’t want to think about (some kind of abuse?). Anyway, in order for our vet to get in to remove the rotting teeth that were in her mouth, they had to cut the corners of her mouth. Her tongue was hanging out when she came to us but at least now her mouth does not smell and, don’t kid yourself, she can eat hard food with the best of them. It has to be the mini bites, but she does just fine. It might take her a little longer to eat, as some falls out, but that makes her just all the more darling.
To say Lucy is a sweetheart is an understatement! She LOVES her people and will do all she can to be with you. We really feel she needs to be in a home where someone/anyone is home a lot. Lucy will follow you from room to room and sleep in a doggie bed while you are busy, but she also loves lap time. Lucy will sleep under the covers just like a Dachshund would so we call her a dachshund-wanna-be.
We would like for Lucy to have a fenced yard but she really would only want to go out in it if you went with her; so, it’s not necessary, but she would need to always be walked on a leash. We would say she would be okay with another dog but also by herself as well because she just wants her people. She would not do well if you are gone for 8 or more hours a day.
Please consider giving little Lucy a happy ending to her unfortunate past.
