BIO:   Shadow is a loyal, affectionate pup with eyes that say “love & feed me!”.  Hence, he could afford to lose a pound or two.  He’s happiest on your lap and in your bed, but is trained to sleep in his bed during naps and nighttime.

Shadow has been with his family for 5 years but enjoyed it more when it was kid-free.  He doesn’t do well living with small kids, so a kid-free family is a MUST!

Shadow has a sister-pup who he gets along with very well.  He prefers the companionship of a female pup rather than a male pup and acts out if they aren’t neutered/spayed (dominant).

Shadow is a pup of routine... he will wake up on the dot ready for breakfast and remind you, to the minute, when it’s time for dinner.  He is used to eating the best food, going on walks or being let out (he has a fenced yard) 3-4 times/day with a mom that works from home.  He hasn’t had to wait to go outside for over 6 hours before.  So, all in all, Shadow is spoiled and requires attention that we can’t give him anymore due to having small kiddos. He’d rather have the attention for himself.

If you’re looking for a gorgeous, housebroken, smooth as silk, attention-seeking, sometimes stubborn, healthy 6-year-old boy, Shadow may be your next forever pup!

Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
