If we had to use one word to describe Timmy it would be WONDERFUL! He’s a tad shy at first but once he smells you and warms up, he’s a great dog - friendly and happy go lucky! He came from northern Alabama after his owner was evicted from his home and he could not take all his dogs with him. He had five. Timmy was one he had to give up. It was best for Timmy because we took care of all his vetting and gave him a fresh dental. Now we can find Timmy a wonderful forever home!
Timmy really loves being outside and needs a fenced yard and another dog around his age to keep him company while he patrols his domain or if you are home alot he'd be fine with that too. Since there were no kids in his previous home, we are going to say that in his new home there should be no kids under 10 years of age. That could change, but for sure, there should be no kids under 5 years old.
Timmy is waiting and looking forward to meeting his new family and living out his life as a cherished pet. Please be that for him!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
