BIO (update 10/12/17): Kooper MUST have a fenced yard.
Kooper has settled nicely into his foster home. We have been able to observe him and have come to realize what an active pup this little guy is! The person who adopts Kooper must be active and willing to engage in activities that will help Kooper burn off his excess energy. His new forever home MUST have a fenced yard.
BIO: Hello, I’m Kooper and I'm a sweet, gentle guy! My foster mom said I’m doing great with all the dachshunds and cats here. I love to ride, love long walks on my leash, and love to snuggle on the couch with everyone! I get along with other dogs after meeting them and have played with some puppies on one of our visits out. I am house trained and crated trained.
I would love to have another dog in the house that likes to play and I would really love a fenced yard so I can continue working on my weight loss. My foster mom says I have done great with getting some of the extra weight off that I was carrying around. I know I can run around the yard a lot better than I used to.
Look at this sweet guy... please consider Kooper for your new addition and he will give you lots of doggie kisses and love!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
