BIO (update 11/21/2017):
Who doesn’t love a frosty face and what senior doesn’t deserve a last forever home?
Who knows what this boy has been through. I would not recommend him to anyone with a child but I do think the right older person or couple would be perfect for him. He is definitely a grumpy old man with all his lumps and bumps and grumps. The only time he grumps now is when we pick him up. He only gets up on the couch because we have an ottoman he can get up himself. He loves to snuggle under blankets tight up against you or with his head on your lap. He loves toys and has to hold one when he is laying down. He is just now starting to put his face up against our face and maybe give us a little kiss. I think we have won his trust.
BIO: Percy came from a high kill shelter in NC and was on the euthanasia list. Somehow, somewhere, he got a gashing wound to his hind quarters but that was all stitched up and while there will always be a scar, it’s completely healed.
Percy is fine with other dogs but could also be an only dog as he does like human attention. He is also a bit of a talker and will talk to you when you go to pick him up or try to get him to do something he doesn’t want to do. So, for that reason, we would prefer he go to a dachshund savvy home. Once he knows that you’re the boss, he’s a delight, always happy with tail wagging. We have no clue why he was surrendered to the shelter but we are glad he was because that family didn’t deserve this boy.
He is low key, happy for a bed or a lap, and has a great appetite. If you are retired and looking for a companion to take with you or leave for only short periods of time, then Percy may well be the boy you are looking for. He also has great house manners!
Please don’t let him continue to be homeless... adopt Percy and give him his last forever home!
