BIO:

My name is Lucy and I was a stray rescued by the Memphis Animal Shelter on June 10th and surrendered to All American Dachshund Rescue on June 17th.

I am with my Michigan foster mom and her four dachshunds that I can play with.  I am house broken to a doggie door, eat and play well with the others, and love sleeping in the big bed at night.  I am in good health.  I have no food or fear aggressions and no submissive urination.

My foster mom calls me her “Little Shadow” since I like to follow her everywhere.  I love to wag my tail constantly and I really don’t bark much.  I am easy going and am friendly to new people who come into the house and/or approach me.  I love to ride in the car and take walks in our neighborhood.  My foster mom takes me to the assisted living center to visit the elderly - they are very friendly and I love all the attention they give me!

Warning!! Warning!!  My foster mom says you need to watch me around doors.  I love to dart out as fast as I can, so all doors available to me need to be in a secured area or I need to be on a leash.  I don’t want to be picked up as a stray “EVER” again!

I am young and still need guidance and direction on how to be a good companion.  I would like a family that is willing to take the time and effort to continue helping me learn some basic puppy skills like sit, stay, no bark, or leave it.  I am young and able to learn if you take an interest and time to help me be a better pet.

I will do my best in a home with lots of people around me, a fenced-in yard, and another four-legged friend to keep me company when you are at work or not at home.  I want a family that will give me my FOREVER HOME.  Open up your heart and home to this little girl (me!!) who will love you and be your BEST FRIEND FOREVER!  Only serious applicants need apply.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Leashtrained, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
