BIO: Hi, my name is Bella and I am from KY!  I came into the rescue when my owner was no longer able to care for me.  I started out in life as a breeder dog and that was a bad thing since I was used as a puppy making machine.

When the rescue saved me, I was very overweight at 30 pounds, which we all know is not good for us little short-legged dachshunds due to our backs. Since March, I have lost about 7 pounds!  My foster mommy has me on a really strict diet, which isn’t so bad.  I am now able to run around and around. This is great since I have not been able to do that in a very long time!  But I still need to be on a diet since my foster mommy says I need to weigh between 15 and 18 pounds. See my weight loss progress (and my haircut) in the photos below... I’m lookin’ good!

Now a little about myself since I am looking for my furever home! Foster mommy says that I am the sweetest and most loving little thing and a real diva.  I don’t know what that means but it doesn’t sound like a bad thing.  Oh, she also says that I will be really beautiful when my fur grows back out.  It was really matted and had to be shaved.  I have 3 foster sisters and get along great with them.  I love to get all the attention, but I have learned that I have to share.  So, I would be just fine as an only dog, that way I will get all the attention, or I'd be happy to live with a fursibling too.  I am housebroken, crate trained and leash trained. What more can you ask for?!

So, if you are up to the challenge of helping me continue my diet, please go online to www.allamericandachshundrescue.org and fill out an application to adopt me! I will love you and give you lots of puppy kisses!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
