BIO:  Well, here I find myself in rescue and it’s all because my owner didn’t know how to stop me from escaping from her house.  She got in trouble with the town in KY that I came from.  The rescue has dubbed me the “escape artist”.  What can I say?  I love to be free but the rescue tells me that I’m lucky I have not gotten hurt or much worse.

They told me that I have to tell you these things.  They are going to make sure I go to the right home that won’t let me escape again.

I must have a fenced in yard.  MUST!  I must have a family that will give me lots of exercise, walking, or jogging, always on a leash.  They said a happy dog is a tired dog.  They said I must have another younger dog to play with that will help me to want to stay where I am and not go looking for greener pastures.

I cannot go to a family with young children because they may accidentally let me out and I’m gone… gone… gone.  Children 12 years or older would be best.  They’ll be able to watch me as they go out the door or gate of the fenced yard.

I’m sorry to be so picky but I know there is someone out there that will keep me safe and I am willing to wait until that one person comes along!

I am a happy boy and I like everyone... male and female, kids too, but no cats please, I’ll chase them.

Thanks for reading about me and tell your friends about me if you know someone looking for a dog just like ME.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
