BIO:  Hey!  Darcy here!  I don’t know what happened.  I was in a happy home and then… BAM!! … I was out the door with my sister.  We came from KY where they tried to blame it on me that we had to be surrendered but it was the fact that my old owner was getting married and did not have time for the dogs now.

AADR split up my sister and me when they saw how she treated me and boy am I glad!  Whew, free… free at last, that girl was stressin’ me out!!

I am a happy, happy boy and the lady that picked me up from my old owner is quite smitten with me for a “Chiweenie” she said, so you know, I’m GOOD.

I really want a fenced-in yard and another doggie around my age to play with would be awesome.  I can assure you that I will also like to snuggle with my new mom or dad.

I walk really great on a leash and love walks.  Walking will help me to lose weight and when I do, I’ll be one handsome dude.

All offers for adoption will be considered but they told me you have to “get approved”, whatever that means.

Love,

Darcy

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteer through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI, NH or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
