BIO:  Lizzie came from an owner in KY who surrendered Lizzie because she was getting married.  Out with the old and in with the new family member.  We can’t quite understand why Lizzie couldn’t be a part of their family, but she isn’t.  We’ve promised to help her find that forever family so she won’t have to worry about ever getting dumped again.

She gets along with other pups in the rescue and loves to mix and mingle with them.  Lizzie also told us that she’d love a fenced yard so that she can chase the squirrels around.  She believes this will help her lose some of the weight she put on from being fed too much food and treats.

Another dog to keep her company while you’re at work or play would be best.  However, she is crate trained if you feel the need to crate her while you are away.  She’d also love to share the big bed with you!!

Please don’t disappoint Lizzie by making her wait too long for that last forever home.  Everyone loves a friendly Chiweenie!

More about Lizzie in MI

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
