BIO UPDATE 7/12/17:  Beaux wants to show off his new bow tie, isn't he dashing?  Beaux is the closest you'll get to a perfect dachshund!  This sweet little man is house trained, loves to go for a ride, eats anything given to him, and loves to snuggle close on the sofa.  Beaux is looking for a home that's low key, like him.  If you are looking for a low maintenance buddy, Beaux is your guy!  

BIO:  This little man is Beaux.  He was stolen from us 7 years ago.  Because he was microchipped and listed as stolen, when he was found wandering the streets of Louisiana, they called us to let us know they had our dog.

Beaux had horrible teeth and lost his two canines but once his gums heal, he should be able to eat small, hard kibble.

To say Beaux is a wonderful dog is an understatement!  He is just the sweetest boy and gets along with all the dogs in foster care.

Beaux is potty-trained and walks great on a leash.  We think he’d be best alone or with another dog to keep him company if you were gone from home for work.  He’s just a low-key boy!  We do recommend children 9 years and over that can respect a dog’s boundaries because we don’t want him to be nervous in his next home.

Other than losing his canines, he is in excellent health.  Please consider giving Beaux his last forever home... you’ll be richly rewarded with a lap warmer!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
