BIO: Meet Mr. Rocket Man!

Rocket was surrendered to a local TN shelter when his family could no longer care for him.  Rocket came in with some baggage but after working with him, he has become the life of the party and friend to all.

Rocket loves to play, play, play!!  He is housebroken to a doggie door, and with patience and a schedule, he would pick up potty training in a home without one in no time.  Rocket is great with all people and doesn’t know a stranger.  Rocket would excel in a home with another younger dog to play with, a fenced-in back yard, and someone that will take him on daily walks.  He isn’t a “dog park” kinda guy.  So, if your plan is to take him to the dog park, please look at our other pups for adoption.

Rocket went through a training program and knows basic obedience and even knows how to walk on a treadmill…YUP, he loves the treadmill!

Rocket has been in foster care since March, and is just waiting for the perfect forever home.  Please consider being his forever!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
