BIO:  MUST have a fenced in yard so that he can run off his puppy energy.  No exceptions!

Odie came from MO from a family that had young children and they didn’t research the breed before they purchased him, and they soon realized he was just not the dog for them. There is nothing wrong with Odie except he’s still a puppy and likes to play and get a little crazy and over stimulated at times. He does better with females rather than males for that reason we are saying no male dogs, but he needs a young female that he can play with and a fenced in yard where he can run off his puppy energy. He’s a great dog, and he is doing well with housebreaking but may regress when adopted, but don’t let that scare you off. He is a small standard and standards go quickly because of their temperament.

If you are looking for a companion to your female, then please consider Odie, he’s a great dog, loves to play and loves toys!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
