BIO:

These two Dachshunds are an amazing couple of dogs!  They are extremely bonded and must be adopted together and kept together.  They absolutely cannot be separated.  Kermit and Miss Piggy have had a tough little stretch in 2017.  They were both in All American Dachshund Rescue foster care back in 2014.  They were adopted by a wonderful gentleman in New Hampshire.  They lived with him until their world was turned upside down when he passed away.  They found themselves in ASPCA custody but thanks to their 911 PetChip, AADR was contacted about their situation.  Without a second thought, we raced to New Hampshire to rescue them again.  Unfortunately, they were not up to date on immunizations or heart-worm testing, were very overweight at 20+ pounds each, their hair was very long and matted which caused extreme pain in their feet, and worst of all, their teeth were in horrible shape.  After a lot of love and professional veterinarian care, they are well on their way back to great health.  Extensive dental work was conducted and they will need to be maintained on very strict annual dental cleanings.

Today, these two characters are so much fun to have around.  Kermit is so full of joy and happiness and just loves his morning runs through the backyard and comes inside with what appears to be a big smile.  Miss Piggy also enjoys them, but she's a little more reserved.  As you’ve already seen in the pictures, Kermit’s mohawk hairstyle is all natural.  It is the cutest thing!  He can stand it up or lay it down on his own, based on his excitement level.  Both of these pups will need to be on prescription weight loss diet for a little while longer as they both should be closer to the 14-15 pound range.  But they are well on their way.  Neither have any aggressions that we’ve encountered (food, toy, or attention).  I could go on all day, but if you would like more information, please contact us via email and we would love to tell you all about these great two dogs!

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
