DEX came to us from a shelter in AL that felt he would do better finding a home in rescue. We got him and noticed that something was not right with his back legs so we took him to our vet to be examined. It was discovered that he has a deformity called Tibial Valgus and effects the Bilateral Stifle. At this time it is not causing any problems and may never cause problems but we do have to list him as "special needs". DEX is just about the sweetiest dog alive. He is very calm and laid back and just goes with the flo. He appears to be house broken and uses the doggie door like a champ. He doesn't care to sleep in the big bed but will sleep in a dogie bed in the same room. He is not a barker and gets along with all the other dogs in the house, male and female. Please give sweet sweet DEX a forever home for the holidays. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about DEX...TN
Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
