BIO:

Whoa Nelly!!   That’s what gets said a lot at Nelly’s foster home!    At 7 months, old, Nelly is full of energy and has the personality to match.  She is climbing over your shoulders one minute and asleep in your lap the next.  She will give you hugs and lick you to death then lay down in your arms like a little baby.  She is learning her manners and how to give everyone a little space but will need someone that can handle her energy and teach her how to curb her puppiness.

Potty training is going well.  One week in and Nelly is having very few accidents.  She uses puppy pads and the doggy door and is getting the hang of “going” when taken out on a schedule.  Again, it will take someone with patience and the ability to keep her on a schedule.

We still need to work on leash training but I don’t think she will have much trouble adjusting.   If she is being considered for a home with cats or small children, she can be tested but I don’t see any problems there either.

Short story for this long dog is, Nelly won’t be available long, so if you're interested in learning more, please contact me at townsend93@gmail.com and submit your application today before someone else does!

More about Nelly.....GA

Good with Dogs, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
