BIO: NO CATS, High Prey Drive!!!

Hi, I came from a breeder in TN that became ill and had to give up her stock, I then went to a home with a cat and that's when they found out I HATE cats. So I have to go to a home with no cats, rodents or birds. I have a high prey drive. I will also need to go to a home with a fenced in yard and another younger dog to play with because I love to play.

You will need to continue to socialize me around people because if you don't I'll become fearful of strangers so please help me to be the wonderful pet I should be.

On a side note, I do get a little carsick so that would need to be addressed with the vet when I have to travel by car.

I love everyone I meet as long as they don’t make loud noises or move too fast.  I’m a little timid and it scares me when people are loud, or when they get right in my face too quickly.  So far, I have loved every person and every dog that I’ve gotten to know, even the great big, hairy dogs.  I love to play with my youngest foster sister, and would enjoy a home with another dog to play with.  I’m submissive so you don’t have to worry about me trying to be in charge.  Since I’m so sweet, my Foster Mom thinks I would be good with children, as long as they’re not too rambunctious or noisy, and if they know to be gentle with me, since I’m pretty small.

I’m doing really well with potty training.  My Foster Mom takes me out on a schedule, and I know just what to do.  I also know how to use a puppy pad if I have an urgent need to potty in between outside trips.  I am sleeping in my crate at night now without making a peep.  I also get in my crate during the daytime to take a nap.  I’m very affectionate and enjoy being petted and scratched, or curling up in laps or beside my people.  I’m a big chewer, so you need to make sure I have bones and toys to chew.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
