BIO:
I am so excited to be able to introduce you to Casper! He is a 12 week old double dapple mini. He is AMAZING! Casper was rescued from a breeder after they made the decision to euthanize him because he is blind and deaf. A good Samaritan stepped in and rescued him. She then called AADR. I for one am extremely thankful that she did. Casper deserves a chance to have a happy and full life!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this remarkable little boy. We believe that he may be able to see shadows out of his left eye but he is completely deaf. He does not let this slow him down at all!! He has all of the energy of a “normal” puppy. He loves to play with his big foster brothers and sisters and even seeks them out to wrestle. He runs around the house and only occasionally will bump into a wall. He has a very keen sense of smell and uses it to hunt us down very successfully! He loves everyone and is very quick to give kisses when he smells someone that he loves or even someone new. When he is ready to take a break from playing, your lap or shoulder is where he wants to be. He will snuggle up close and fall asleep. He does not like his crate but we are working on that. We would prefer that he goes to a home where someone is there during the day so that he does not have to spend long hours alone in a crate. We are working on potty training but it will be a long process with him. He will need a home that is patient and understanding. Casper must go to a home that has experience with blind/deaf/special needs dogs. We have started training him with touch and signals.
I cannot put into words just how awesome Casper is! Every day that we get to spend with him is a pleasure. He never ceases to amaze us with his resiliency and love of life. If you have any questions or think that you may be the perfect home for Casper, please contact his foster mom.
