BIO: Kendi is a sweet, and loving little girl, who is looking for her forever home. She is enthusiastic about playing with her squeaky toys, and going outside for short walks. We are working on her not being afraid of strangers; she does calm down easily and then settles down to greet the person. Kendi is also starting to play with children, but they should be older children who will sit quietly and greet her, and then she becomes very playful. She plays well with other small dogs, especially other dachshunds. She likes to play and run with them. Kendi loves to chase balls when thrown for her! She just adores any kind of attention... her favorite being tummy and back rubs!

Kendi is house trained, but if you are gone a really long time, she will use a potty pad. Like most dachshunds, she likes her blankets, and settles down at night to go to sleep. She’s quite funny, she likes to be tucked in just before you lay down.  So having a bed for her in your bedroom is a good thing... she won’t move till she hears you in the morning.

Please consider adopting this awesome little girl, who will become a much loved companion and family member!

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Kendi Kisa.....MD

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
