BIO:   My foster mommy says I’m a sweetie! I like to follow her around the house and also in her fenced in backyard. I try very hard not to let her out of my sight. I love to lay beside her on the couch in the evening. I love giving kisses and getting my belly rubbed. I sleep in a crate at night but I don’t mind. In fact, sometimes I’ll lay in it during the day and nap. My foster brother and I get along well. We just aren’t fed together because we both guard our food like a lot of dachshunds.

I have only one small issue which makes me what they call special needs. When I came to AADR, I had a very bad ear infection. The vet took really good care of me! I got an entire new ear canal which you really don’t even know is there unless you look under my ear for it. I have to have ear cleaner put in my special ear canal once a week. I don’t mind it being done because I don’t want any more ear infections. My ear problems have left me mostly deaf but I still hear some. I can hear when my foster mommy claps her hands to get my attention.

If you’re looking for a sweet, lovable girl please consider me! I would very much like a furever home of my own. You can email my foster mommy attbparson@comcast.net if you’d like more information about me.

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Ella....TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
