BIO:

Imagine a new jar of freshly made honey and how sweet it is.  You get that wonderful sweetness and flavor that only Mother Nature can provide.  That’s ME!  Nothing but pure sweet goodness.  Hence the name…  HONEY!  Not to mention my beautiful red color is also the color of that majestic goodness.  My foster mom says I am perfect in every way.  I need to gain a pound or two and we are working on that.  I love to eat and will inhale my meals if I can and then want to help others eat theirs, so you’ll need to watch me. I recently had a dental and lost two teeth but when I’m healed up, I can eat anything put in front of me.  I’m a really laid back kinda gal and don’t ask for much except a little kindness and I really like lots of love and belly rubs.  All I want is to be next to my person anywhere they are and I get along with my little blind foster Chi sister really well too.  I don’t seem to care much for toys but a squeaker will get my attention, I’m just not sure what to do with it.  Foster mom says I’m just too sweet to kill it.  I am extremely laid back and like my crate and will go in when asked and to bed at night and will wait patiently for you to get up in the morning to let me out.  But I would probably love to be in the big bed with my person.  I’ve only had one accident in the house and that was 10 minutes after I got to my new foster home, but none since.  I think that was foster mom’s fault really.  I’m told I’ll be a great family member for some very lucky family.   Anyone out there looking for a jar of fresh, sweet Honey?

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
