BIO:
Ethel came in with another dog from a kill shelter in Northern AL. They were left at a rental and the landlord did them a favor and brought them to the shelter so they could be saved. Lucie has since been adopted but Ethel was unfortunately heartworm positive but has been treated and ready to go to her NEW home. She’ll be ready to go to her forever home around the middle of March so get your applications in early. Ethel is a great, great dog, very sweet, housebroken and loves to be a lap sitter! She’ll sleep in the big bed with you too if you’ll let her. When not sleeping on the couch when you’re not on it, she’ll sometimes sleep in a doggie bed. She gets along with all the dogs in the foster home. She is not a picky eater but was a little on the heavy side when she first came in, but we’ve worked and got her down to 14-15 lbs and she now shows off her beautiful slim figure.
If you are looking for a dog that is totally devoted to you, then Ethel would be the one. We think she would be just fine as an only dog or with another. Don’t miss out on this beauty!
More about Ethel.....MD
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
