UPDATE 11-14-14:
Mary has been in FL for nearly a month and it’s been wonderful to see her grow and change. She now walks on a leash and is much less shy and skittish. She now has a happy little “skip in her step” when out in the yard ... and even picked up and played with a toy. She is truly learning and enjoying being a pet ... instead of a caged breeder dog. She will come to you to be picked up to share your lap on the sofa ... or snuggle beside you in the BIG bed.
When Webster wrote the definition for SWEET, he should have included Mary’s pic! In fact, her photo could be next to a lot of words including GENTLE, DAINTY, and LOVABLE! Yes, she has stolen her foster mom’s heart!!! Mary doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She gets along with all the dogs in the household ... male, female, young, or old ... and no matter what the size. See the photo of little 9 lb. Mary next to a standard size 21 lb. dachshund. Mary has no teeth, so I just soak her kibble to make it easier to chew. BTW, she’s become quite a chow hound, but I’m careful not to let her gain weight. She needs to keep her girlish figure!
If you have any questions, just contact Mary’s foster mom for more info on this PRECIOUS little girl!
_______________
Mary is one for the 9 MO puppymill dogs that was given up by the small puppymiller when a family member became ill.
Unfortunately as with many puppymill survivors Mary lost all her teeth due to NO dental care while in the care of the puppymiller. But that does not stop her from enjoying her softened food. On a positive note the new owner will never have to worry about dentals for her. We just soften hard food and of course soft treats only.
Mary is going to need someone that wants to make a difference in her life and show her how to be a pet. She loves doggie beds, roaming outside in the fenced yard and just enjoying a slow pace without having to be a breeding machine. She does try to dodge you picking her up but we are working on that.
Please won’t you help Mary learn to be the pet she should be in the remaining years she has left? She has a very sweet disposition….please.
