BIO:  My name is Nina and they think I am a “Chi Winnie” – (Dachshund and Chihuahua mix).  I came from a Texas Animal shelter – they did not tell All American Dachshund Rescue if I was a stray or owner surrender.   I don’t know my real name – but they keep calling me “Nina”.  I have lots of energy, bark a lot when I see a squirrel and I love to jump up on laps and the back of the couch.   I feel the safest when I am sitting on your lap and see more of my surroundings. I have no food aggressions, get along with other small dogs and I do my business outside if I have access to a doggie door.   I haven’t been on a leash yet – but I am a fast learner.   I’ve been told I have alopecia (thinning of my fur) but it’s only on my chest and the back of my ears.  Maybe with some vitamins and better dog food it will go away?  I shake like a Chihuahua when I get nervous.   I have lots of energy – so another small dog to play with would be nice.   All I really need is a loving family and a lap to sit on. If you adopt me I will make you proud of me, love you and be your best friend forever.   I can hardly wait to meet you.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of  CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

More about Nina...MI

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
