Margie came in with nine other dachshunds from a breeder in NC that passed away from cancer. Her last wish was for all her dogs to go to wonderful homes. We are seeing to her last wish. These are not your typical puppymill dogs; these dogs are all social, friendly and happy to be out of the breeding business. Margie is a happy girl and deserves a great home. She did lose a lot of teeth due to the poor dental care she got all her life.
She loves being outside but also likes to be in the house sleeping on the couch or in a doggie bed. She knows that outside is for potty time and many times we will see her laying out soaking up the sun. Margie is great with kids. She would do best in a home with no cats. She doesn't try to hurt them, but sometimes she gets fixated on them & will stare & whine at the cats. She LOVES her foster brother & a home with another doggie companion would be great for her. Margie will follow you anywhere you go, she wants to be with her human!
If you are looking for a mature lady, ready to live out her days being someone's pet, then Margie is the one for you. She’s sweet, gets along with everyone and is housetrained. Really, what more can you ask for? Apply today.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
