BIO:

Mary Jane came to AADR from a hoarding situation in Alabama.  She has been with her foster family for 4 months now and has thrived in learning how to be a pet.  Mary Jane is a sweet gal who gets along great with cats and dogs both male and female.  She has not been tested with children but due to her past circumstances, she does need to be with older children if children are part of the household.

Mary Jane loves playing with toys and after 4 months is starting to instigate play time with her foster brothers and sisters.  When she encourages play, she looks like a little puppy.  She LOVES bones and loves to be cuddled and held.  She doesn't bite but does bark here and there at new situations.  She does not like a kennel but loves to sleep on the couch.  She is housetrained if kept on a schedule.  She does know what it means to go potty outside.  She loves a fenced in yard but will be fine as an inside dog as well.  She has learned how to be a member of a pack and has learned how to let other dogs snuggle and cuddle with her.

Mary Jane will need patience and time to get used to her new house but when you earn her trust, she will give you her heart!  Please if you want more pictures or more information contact her foster parents at Stay_C31@hotmail.com.

We will not adopt into the state of  CT or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures. We are working hard to get approved to bring dogs into the state of NH and until that happens we can not adopt to anyone in that state either.

More about Mary Jane...LA

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
