BIO:

Meet Caramel. He’s an outgoing little puppy that is ready for an active home. He’s full of energy, never meets a stranger, plays with total abandon with whoever is up for the challenge. Caramel is doing well on house training and sleeps quietly with his brother, Hershey, in a crate at night and while mom’s away. He is a work in progress and will require a family that is willing to teach him manners, boundaries, and be consistent with housetraining manners. Attending “kindergarten” classes where he learns to play well with others and basic commands is a good idea, too. He’s a wild-and-crazy boy that is ready for a forever family that will wear him out.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
