BIO

Precious is easy to fall in love with, so I am not sure why she was given up. Precious was an owner surrender to the humane society, her paperwork states she lived outside.

This little girl is sure to steal your heart. She is a lovebug, she craves attention and will gladly curl up into anyone’s lap. She gets along well with her foster brothers and sisters, and even the human children. Precious has an easy going laid back personality, while the other weenies are chasing squirrels, Precious is happily perched at the top of the steps watching.

Precious is about 90% housebroken if kept on a schedule or has access to a doggy door.

She is curious about cats, but does’nt seem to bother them, she is however very attracted to the litterbox, so it should be covered and kept behind a baby gate to deter her from eating kitty crunchies. Precious loves sleeping in the big bed, just like most Dachshunds she prefers to burrow under the covers.

While she is crate trained will cry for the first few minutes to protest. She does well being left alone at home for short periods outside her crate, she usually waits by the front door for your return.

Precious loves her human foster children, she plays with them and even sneaks off to sleep with them occasionally. She is however on the smaller side of "mini" so would do best in a home with older children who can be gentle with her.

This sweet weenie would make a great addition to any home.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
