BIO: BLACKY is a delightful little boy! He loves to cuddle and get lots of attention. He loves to be groomed and does not fuss at all. He plays well with other dogs (small dogs are best, but he tolerates large ones if they are not bossy with him) and if you stamp your feet outside in the yard will run all around you and bark at you very silly like. He walks great on a leash and knows what he is out there for. He is a great watchdog and will bark to sound an alarm when necessary, but is not a yippy little dog at all. He eats Nutro Natural Balance Oatmeal, Chicken and Rice since he has an allergy to wheat and corn.  He can develop a rash if he has some of the cheaper brand food on the market, so please keep that in mind.

He would do well in an apartment setting with walks several times a day or a yard accessible for him to run in either way. He loves to follow you around the house and be with you all the time.  He is shy when he first meets you and takes a few weeks to settle in with you, but once he does, watch out this little boy is a lover and an attention seeker! He is looking for his furever home now, could you be that one for him? 

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  
 
If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
