Rosie was turned in to rescue because her owners are moving and unable to take her. She’s a sweet girl, well mannered, plays well with other dogs—both male and female. She is also well socialized and meets and greets people nicely.  Rosie will not be available for her forever home until about October 9^th because she will need a visit to the vet to get all her vaccines and have her teeth cleaned. But, you can get your applications in now for Rosie! Don’t let the gray on her face fool you---she’s playing with her wild-and-crazy, young foster brothers! She’s spunky and playful with a “just right” energy level—just enough “play” and just enough “snuggle”! We haven’t tested her with young children yet, but we expect she’ll be accepting of children who know how to respect and handle a small girl, like Rosie. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If transporting by volunteers through our organization or a commercial transporter, a $35 fee for the Health Certificate must be added to the adoption fee.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
