FOSTER HOME (NAME, CITY & STATE, ZIP, EMAIL) Stephanie, Huntsville, Alabama, smburmei@comcast.net

Daisy Mae was turned in by her mom who was recently divorced, finishing school, and overwhelmed by other responsibilities. Daisy deserves more love and attention than her mom could give her and we were glad to take her in to foster care. Daisy is now looking for a new forever home that will love and adore her and make her a part of your family.  Daisy is accustomed to being around small children, is housetrained, spayed, and is up-to-date on her vaccines.  She will turn 5 years old in August, but acts like a puppy and is a happy girl! She would very much enjoy a playmate and a fenced yard to enjoy. Daisy also walks nicely on a leash.

When Daisy first came to rescue, she was experiencing some pain, and we were afraid it was her back. So, she was examined, X-rayed, and seen by a neurosurgeon who identified that she had a pulled muscle in her hips--her back if fine! So, Daisy is now on crate rest and anti-inflammitory medicine and will be ready to go to her forever home near the end of June. We have discovered the probable reason she has a sprained muscle--she loves to JUMP-- not a good thing for a dachshund. So, you must be willing to crate her when you're not at home to prevent any more sprained muscles. Thankfully, Daisy Mae settles down nicely in a crate and takes a nap.

Don't hesitate to complete an appliction for Daisy Mae! She'll be rested and ready to jump in to your heart and brighten your home and put a smile on your face by the time the application is processed!

More about DAISY MAE...TN

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
