BIO:

MEET PRINCE CHARMING!!

Prince was surrendered to us by a breeder only a couple weeks ago. He did not have much human contact or the luxury of learning about how many household items run, look, or sound in his very important formative puppy-hood weeks. He is very jumpy around new sounds or objects, but he is getting better each and every day! We feel that Prince would do best in a home with no small children as he is still leaning how things work in a home & a small child would just startle him. He LOVES all other dogs and we feel he would be best suited in a home with a doggie companion. He has learned so much so fast from following his foster brother’s and sister’s around, and we feel he would only continue to flourish with a canine brother or sister.  He has not offered to growl or bite while in his foster home, even during his scarcest moments.

We are going to require a fenced in yard for Prince’s new home because he is just not ready at all to be leash walked. And as with many breeder dogs we help find new homes, he is still just too scared. He is working on housetraining but because he was recently neutered he still marks occasionally. But with a routine schedule he will catch on very quickly.

If you feel you can give Prince the home he so deserves please fill out an adoption application.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
