FOSTER HOME nashcat50us@yahoo.com

GINGER NEEDS TO GO TO A HOME WITH ANOTHER DOG, FENCED IN YARD AND SOMEONE THAT IS HOME MOST OF THE TIME OR CAN TAKE HER WITH THEM TO WORK, IF YOU ARE ALL OF THESE THEN APPLY TODAY!!

Ginger is a VERY pretty girl that spent her life as a breeder until she came into rescue. She is small and delicate and displays beautiful dachshund posture and carries herself in classic "doxie style" that we know and love---and she has very short legs! Ginger's "working days" are over and she is now learning to become a pampered lap dog and is thoroughly enjoying being loved---her tail wags more and more every day! When she came to her foster home, she was very nervous and skittish and was startled by everyday household noises. But, Ginger warmed up quickly and she responds well to gentle voices and TREATS, of course! She's learning to show her happiness and play, relax a little, take naps on the sofa, enjoy being in the sunshine, and running in the fenced yard. She is fine with her foster brothers and sisters, but snarls at anybody who gets too close and personal---understandable! She has not been cat tested, so that is an unknown; nor, has she been exposed to small children. Ginger is good natured and should be fine with children old enough to be gentle with a small dog, keep doors and gates closed to keep her safe, and let her warm up to them on her own terms.

Ginger will need a home that will be patient with her and encourage good behaviors. She will not ever be a dog that can be scolded or punished. She seems reliably housetrained, but should be kept on a schedule to ensure good house manners. Ginger is not good on a leash and will need someone who will patiently teach her how to walk without pulling. She is fine with other dogs, but would be OK as an only child. She will thrive in a quiet and structured home that will continue with socialization and patiently expose her to new situations. Ginger has a great personality and needs a forever home that will love her unconditionally and encourage her to blossom! She loves to be loved and promises to be a faithful forever lap warmer and give grateful puppy kisses forever! If you would like additional information or pictures, just email her mom. smburmei@comcast.net

More about GINGER...TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
