BIO: Marcus is the father of Sparky whom he is extremely bonded with. Because of this bond we are looking for a home that will open their hearts to both.

Marcus is a big love who aspires to be a lap dog. He will sit on any lap available and will cover your face with kisses if given the chance. Marcus is on a diet to lose weight and improve his ability to live a long healthy life. He loves to snuggle in his doggie bed but if you’re willing to give him a boost he will happily snuggle under the covers of your bed. His all time favorite pastime is chewing with squeaky toys. He is very easy going and loves to watch the daily activity in a household. Marcus is very laid back and loving and has a true heart of gold.

Sparky is a sweet but timid boy who takes a little time to warm up. You know he likes you when he plops over on his side and looks for tummy rubs. Sparky is also a laid back and easy going boy who just loves any attention you might throw his way. A little tummy rub and attention will get you far. Sparky is slightly timid until you earn his trust because he was attacked by a large German Shepard. Since that incident, he is slightly weary. This disappears very quickly once you get to know him and he too likes to watch and follow the people of the household. Sparky has never been leash trained but we are currently working on that issue. For this reason, this pair needs to go to a home with a fenced yard. Sparky often plays the caretaker to his father and sometimes helps him groom. They would rather snuggle together in one bed than be apart.

If you are looking for a bonded pair to love please give Marcus and Sparky a chance, you won’t be disappointed!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
