BIO: Eric is a spunky little guy that is active when it’s time to play, but also very calm when it’s time to relax. He is very much a people dog and would prefer human attention over dog companionship. Eric loves to sit quietly on a lap and soak in the attention.

Eric suffers from separation anxiety so he would do best in an environment that has people interaction during the day. He is crate and potty trained. Eric does enjoy the company of other dogs but it is not required. Eric has never been in a home with cats until now. He likes to chase them when they run but never harms them.

Eric was diagnosed with epilepsy (seizures) about 2 years ago and he requires medicine twice a day with each feeding. The prescription is inexpensive and very simple to give. Eric has been known to be vocal on occasion mostly when he is left alone due to separation anxiety. When crated with another dog he seems to calm down more quickly and the anxiety disappears. Eric is a very sweet boy who loves to give kisses. Please consider giving Eric a forever home that he very much deserves.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
